Planet Hardwood's Standard One -Year Warranty:
Subject to the following limitations on our warranty coverage, Planet Hardwood warrants our flooring, at the time the flooring leaves our possession, to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, to be of the quality, kind, and grade as invoiced by Planet Hardwood. If any of our flooring, within one year from the date of purchase, is proven to the satisfaction of Planet Hardwood to be defective in materials or workmanship, Planet Hardwood will either replace in kind to the original owner, or refund the purchase price of that portion of the flooring proven to be defective.
Planet Hardwood’s Residential Fifteen or Twenty Five Year Finish Warranty
Planet Hardwood’s multi coat finish is guaranteed not to wear through to the wood surface for a full twenty five years when maintained according to the recommended Planet Hardwood Floor Care and Maintenance Guide recommendations. This applies to residential traffic conditions to the original owner for as long as that person owns and occupies their home.
Planet Hardwood’s Residential Lifetime Lamination Warranty
Planet Hardwood warrants our engineered flooring from delaminating to the original owner for as long as that person owns and occupies their home when maintained according to the recommended Planet Hardwood Floor Care and Maintenance Guide recommendations.
Disclaimer of Any Other Warranty
This writing is the complete and exclusive statement of warranty, and is in lieu of all other express and/or statutory warranties. Any implied warranties of merchantability and of fitness for any particular purpose are expressly limited to a term of one year. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
No Consequential or Incidental Damage
Under no circumstances shall Planet Hardwood be liable for any special, incidental, or consequential damages, whether arising out of breach of warranty, breach of contract, or otherwise. Planet Hardwood shall not be liable for any loss, expense, inconvenience or damages other than the actual cost of repairing and/or replacing the Planet Hardwood floor materials themselves. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.
Limitations of This Warranty Coverage:
The following conditions are not covered by this warranty:
- Visible Defects - Visible defects are those defects that are apparent either in the face or in the finish of the flooring and which are apparent visually or become apparent prior to or during installation. The installer has the final inspection responsibility as to the grade and quality of the flooring being installed. Standard trade practices allow up to 5% of the pieces to contain milling/grade defects. When your flooring order is placed, at least an extra 5% must be added to the actual square footage needed as allowance for cutting waste and mis-manufacture or off grade material. The installer should set aside pieces with visible defects prior to installation and if the amount is excessive report them to Planet Hardwood so that replacement flooring can be promptly furnished. This warranty does not cover the cost of reinstallation labor when materials with visible defects have been installed.
- Improper Installation - Planet Hardwood does not warranty problems resulting from installations done in a manner contrary to Planet Hardwood's Installation Instructions.
- Improper Jobsite Conditions - flooring installations must be planned by the local installer to make sure the jobsite has and maintains an appropriate relative humidity of between 35% and 60%. Proper preparation will avoid potential moisture related problems. Planet Hardwood shall not be responsible for shrinkage, swelling, warping, “telegraphing” and cracking-type defects which may result from subsequent changes in the relative humidity at the installation site.
- Problems from Extremely Dry Conditions - In extremely dry installations, where the equilibrium is below 6%, all engineered multi-ply floors will shrink and at times the wear layer and finish will surface check or cup or crack due to the low relative humidity conditions. Planet Hardwood does not recommend installing our engineered floors in areas below a 6% equilibrium point and therefore will not warrant against defects resulting from extreme dryness.
- Problems from Excessive Moisture - All wood will swell and warp if soaked with water. All engineered floors will have a greater tendency to de-laminate in the presence of excessive moisture. This warranty does not cover defects caused by excessive job site moisture whether a result of:
- soakings from above due to improper maintenance techniques and/or flooding, or
- excessive moisture coming up through the subfloor.
- excessively high relative humidity at the job site (above a 13% equilibrium point)
- Improper Maintenance or Inadequate Care - All wood floors require periodic maintenance. Please follow the instructions recommended in the Planet Hardwood Floor Care and Maintenance Guide. This warranty does not cover damage caused by improper maintenance or care.
- Accidents, Abuse or Abnormal Wear - This warranty does not cover damage resulting from accidents or abuses that might stain, scratch, or change the gloss levels of Planet Hardwood’s pre-finished floors.
- Indentations from Stiletto Heels and Improperly Protected Furniture Legs - A stiletto shoe heel or improperly protected furniture leg can concentrate extensive weight in one small area. Dropping heavy or pointed objects will also do the same. This will indent even the hardest woods and is considered abuse that this warranty does not cover.
- Color Change - Wood is a natural material and changes color over time either as a result of exposure to sunlight and/or through oxidation/aging. Planet Hardwood does not warrant its flooring against color changes in the wood or finish as this is a natural process inherent in aging.
- Variance from Samples - Wood changes color over time and also varies from piece to piece. In addition, different finishes alter the color of a wood differently. Therefore, Planet Hardwood cannot warrant against the wider range of color/grain variation to be found in an installed floor versus the limited range found in just a few samples. Nor can Planet Hardwood warrant its floors from the color variation that may be found in "old" samples, which have aged, versus the color of a newly installed floor. Nor can Planet Hardwood warrant the variation in color of your floor from a set of pre-finished samples as this variation may be caused by the effect of use of a different finish on your floor than that used on the samples.
- The Natural Variation in Wood - Wood is a product of nature and has a wide range of variation from piece to piece in color, grain, and figure. This warranty does not cover claims resulting from the natural range of variations in color, grain, and figure to be found in every wood species.
- For Any Products Designated as Seconds and Sold "As is" - this warranty does not apply.
